Melvor Idle 2 on mobile · Updated September 2026 · By the Tideward team

Melvor Idle 2 on iPhone and Android: what was said, and what the dates add up to.

The developer's answer on mobile is one sentence, unchanged since March 2026, with no date in it. Here it is exactly, next to the public commitments that bound it, with the dates worked out. Where a step is our reading rather than their words, we say so.

Yes, Melvor Idle 2 is coming to iOS and Android, but not with the Steam launch. The developer's FAQ says: "we plan to eventually release the game on iOS and Android after Steam's Early Access release." If it takes part in Next Fest as planned, Early Access cannot start until the festival closes on October 26, 2026 (Valve's rule) and is "still on track" for 2026. The Steam page expects Early Access to take 12 to 18 months, and the September 2026 infographic lists iOS, Android and Web among the things left before v1.0. On those stated plans, phones arrive somewhere between late October 2026 and about mid-2028. Our reading: do not expect it in 2026.

What the developer has said, word for word

The mobile answer sits in the FAQ at the foot of the Melvor Idle 2 development updates. It is word for word the same in the March 2026 update, the June 12, 2026 update and the September 29, 2026 update:

Are there plans to release on Mobile?

Yes, we plan to eventually release the game on iOS and Android after Steam's Early Access release.

Games by Malcs, Melvor Idle 2 Development Progress Update (September 2026), September 29, 2026

Three other public statements set the frame around that sentence. We quote each one exactly, because the dates below are built from them.

  • Where the game runs today. The same FAQ: the Patreon alpha runs on "Windows, MacOS and Linux. Available via Steam or as a standalone client download." The Steam page lists the same three systems. A web version is also planned: "Yes, there are plans to release a web version."
  • How long Early Access runs. The Steam page's Early Access section: "It may take up a total of 12-18 months to complete all planned content for the full version game."
  • Where mobile sits on the roadmap. The September 2026 progress infographic has three columns. iOS, Android and Web are under the third, "Coming Soon", which the image itself captions "This is what's left before we reach v1.0. Early Access will launch before this list is complete." The post introducing it adds that it is "showing planned major features up until v1.0."

What is not in any of these: a month, a year, an order within the "Coming Soon" list, a price, or whether iOS and Android ship together. Anyone quoting one of those is guessing.

The arithmetic, done out loud

The mobile sentence gives a floor ("after Steam's Early Access release"). The infographic gives a planned ceiling ("before we reach v1.0"). The Steam page tells you how far apart those are. So the question becomes: when does Early Access start, and when is v1.0?

Early Access start. Melvor Idle 2 plans to take part in Steam Next Fest, October 19 to 26, 2026, and Valve's rules for that edition say a participating game has to release after the festival ends. So if it takes part as planned, the earliest possible Early Access start is October 26, 2026, after the festival closes at 10am Pacific. The September 29 update says the team is "still on track for an Early Access Steam launch in 2026," so the latest, if that holds, is December 31, 2026.

v1.0. Add the Steam page's 12 to 18 months to each end of that window. The earliest start plus 12 months is about late October 2027. The latest start plus 18 months is about June 30, 2028.

Earliest Early Access start October 26, 2026, after 10am PDT Valve requires a Next Fest game to release after the festival closes (if it takes part as planned) our sum
Latest Early Access start, if 2026 holds December 31, 2026 "Still on track for an Early Access Steam launch in 2026" (September 29, 2026) stated
Earliest v1.0 on the stated plan about late October 2027 Earliest start plus 12 months (Steam page: "12-18 months") our sum

iOS and Android After Early Access starts, listed before v1.0 The FAQ ("after Steam's Early Access release") and the infographic's "before we reach v1.0" column stated

"Stated" rows are the developer's or Valve's own words. "Our sum" rows are plain date addition on those words, nothing more. Checked against the Steam store, the Steam news feed for app 3218350 (which carries the dev blog's text), the September infographic and Valve's Next Fest documentation on September 29, 2026.

So, on the developer's own stated plans, iOS and Android land somewhere between late October 2026 and about mid-2028. That is a wide range, and it is wide on purpose: it is everything the public statements allow and nothing more.

Two things would move every row. If feedback from the Next Fest demo pushes Early Access into 2027 (the September post says that could happen: "we might need some more time to smooth it out"), add the delay to each date. And "may take up a total of 12-18 months" is an estimate. For scale, the first game entered Steam Early Access in November 2020 and reached 1.0 on November 18, 2021, about a year later, but Melvor Idle 2 is a much larger game.

Our reading of it (inference, not their words)

Inference · Tideward team, September 29, 2026

We would not expect Melvor Idle 2 on a phone in 2026. For that to happen, a mobile build would have to ship within weeks of an Early Access launch that itself cannot come before Next Fest closes on October 26. Nothing the developer has published points that way, and the FAQ's "eventually" reads as the opposite.

The planning assumption we would use is 2027 or later. The "Coming Soon" column is not in order, so mobile could come early in Early Access or close to v1.0. The public record does not say which, and we will not pretend it does.

The order is the reverse of the first game. The first Melvor Idle's App Store listing gives its original release date as June 23, 2020, months before its Steam Early Access began. Melvor Idle 2 is going desktop first. The developer has not published a reason, so we are not offering one.

The developer is already on the App Store under its own name. Jagex is the listed publisher of the first game's App Store page, and Games by Malcs publishes the Melvor Idle Wiki app there itself. That is a fact about today, not a signal about the sequel's timing.

What else rides on the same timeline

A few things sit in the same "before v1.0" column as the phone builds, and they matter more on a phone than on a PC:

  • Languages. The Steam page lists English only. In the June 12, 2026 FAQ the developer answered the question directly: "Yes, but not until v1.0. We already have support built in to the game to support languages other than English, so that part is already done." The September FAQ did not repeat the question. If a phone build lands before v1.0, it would presumably be English only as well (our inference).
  • Cloud Profiles and a Friends List. Both are in the "Coming Soon" column. Cloud saving and cloud backups are already in the alpha, per the same infographic.
  • The web version. Also "Coming Soon", with no date.
  • Offline progress is already in the alpha, which is the part of an idle game a phone depends on most.

What you can actually play on a phone right now

The first Melvor Idle. It is on the App Store and Google Play today, and it is still the deepest Melvor you can put on a phone. If you have never played it, that is the obvious place to start, on iPhone or Android.

Tideward (which we make) is a different game for a different device. It is an idle RPG in the same RuneScape lineage that Melvor comes from, built by one developer, only for Apple hardware. Here is what it is, as plain facts:

  • Native on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch, with one save through your own iCloud.
  • 28 trades, and up to 24 hours of offline progress while your device is asleep.
  • Sixteen languages at launch: English, Arabic, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Filipino, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
  • Free to download, with one $9.99 unlock for the full game. No ads, no subscription. No loot boxes, no premium currency; every purchase is direct and one-time.
  • Launches on the App Store on February 11, 2027. The pre-order is live now and installs the game that day.
  • A free public TestFlight beta is open now, for the first 1,000 testers.

It is not Melvor Idle 2, and it is not on Android. If you are on Android, the first Melvor Idle is your pick. If you are on Apple and want something new while the sequel finishes Early Access, the beta is open.

Melvor Idle 2 mobile FAQ

Is Melvor Idle 2 coming to mobile?

Yes. The developer's FAQ, repeated in the June 12 and September 29, 2026 development updates, says: "Yes, we plan to eventually release the game on iOS and Android after Steam's Early Access release." The September 2026 progress infographic lists iOS, Android and Web under "Coming Soon", the column it describes as "what's left before we reach v1.0."

When will Melvor Idle 2 be on iPhone or iOS?

No date has been announced. On the developer's stated plans, iOS comes after Steam Early Access begins, which cannot happen before Next Fest closes on October 26, 2026 if it takes part as planned, and is listed as planned before v1.0, which the Steam page puts 12 to 18 months into Early Access: roughly October 2027 to June 2028 if Early Access starts in 2026. Our own reading, which is inference and not the developer's statement, is that a phone release in 2026 is very unlikely and that 2027 or later is the realistic expectation.

Will Melvor Idle 2 be on Android?

Yes, on the same plan as iOS: the developer says iOS and Android both come after Steam's Early Access release, and both sit in the "before v1.0" column of the September 2026 infographic. No date has been given for either.

Can I play the Melvor Idle 2 Next Fest demo on my phone?

No phone version has been mentioned. The demo is planned for Steam Next Fest, October 19 to 26, 2026, and the Steam page lists Melvor Idle 2 for Windows, macOS and Linux. The September 29 update says the demo's contents are still being decided.

Is there a Melvor Idle 2 app on the App Store or Google Play?

Not as of September 29, 2026. The developer has announced no mobile date and no price. On the App Store today there is the first game, Melvor Idle, published by Jagex, and the Melvor Idle Wiki app from Games by Malcs.

Will Melvor Idle 2 on mobile be in other languages?

Not at first, going by what the developer has said. The Steam page lists English only, and the June 12, 2026 FAQ answered the languages question with "Yes, but not until v1.0," adding that language support is already built into the game. Mobile is also planned before v1.0, so if it arrives earlier than v1.0 it would presumably be English only too. That last step is our inference.

Will my Melvor Idle 1 mobile save carry over to Melvor Idle 2?

There is no public statement either way. The developer has confirmed that Melvor Idle 2 alpha saves carry forward with no wipes, but has said nothing about moving a Melvor Idle 1 save, on any platform, into the sequel.

What can I play on iPhone while I wait for Melvor Idle 2?

The first Melvor Idle is on the App Store and Google Play now and is still the deepest Melvor on a phone. Tideward, which we make, is a different game in the same RuneScape idle lineage, built only for Apple devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch, with 28 trades and up to 24 hours of offline progress. It is free to download with one $9.99 unlock, launches February 11, 2027, is up for pre-order on the App Store, and has a free TestFlight beta open now. It is not on Android.
